Quick and Cheap Drive Pulley Tool

Prototype Drive Pulley Tool

Changing the drive belt of the Silver Wing is a job well within the capabilities of most individuals. A metric socket set, metric Allen wrenches, and a suitable torque wrench is all you need. Oh yeah, one more tool. You will need some type of spanner to hold the drive pulley while loosening or tightening the large bolt. Honda has a specialty tool just for this purpose. It is expensive for something you won't use much. I knew I could come up with something, for cheap, that would do the job.

All you need is some scrap wood, 2 1/4"x1.5"x20 carriage head bolts w/washers and nuts. A wood saw, drill, and drill bits are all the tools to make this item.

I have used this tool many times and it works great.

Here is another way to go.   Metal Spanner

A piece of scrap1/2" plywood is what I use.

These dimensions seem to be about perfect.

Marking for the holes

Mark for drilling the holes to these values.

Holes drilled and the hardware laid out for assembly.
I had one longer bolt that I had to cut to size.
I just used what I had on hand.
